Launching Webex from 3D (aka side by side mode)

For this you will need the shareable URL of your Webex meeting/channel.

This allows participants in the 3D environment to launch the Webex app or web client. Effectively both solutions run side by side. By switching focus to the 3D environment the participants can use the audio of Webex. Video and screen sharing is handled through the 3D platform rather than in Webex, so only participants in 3D can see and share video.

This can be setup using the Third party conference URL advanced setting for a space.

Change space settings

After you’ve created your space, we need to add the Webex URL to its settings to complete the integration.

Click on the (three vertical dots) button in the bottom right of the space’s card. This will open a small menu, from which you should choose Edit space

In this window, click on Show advanced in the bottom right, then click on Advanced settings to expand that section.

After expanding the “Advanced settings” section, look for the Use a Third party conference service option. Here we will include our Webex URL.

Streaming Cisco Webex into 3D with Webex Streams

If you are on a Webex subscription you will have access to Live Stream.

Live Stream allows you to output a video stream of a Webex meeting or a Webex event, the stream can then be displayed within the 3D environment for attendees to watch.

An additional service is required to convert the outbound rtmp stream from Webex to a HLS video stream that can be used in 3D.
